Vehicle door lock device with super lock mechanism

A vehicle door lock device has an inside lock lever 17 connected to a lock member 90 on the inside of the door, a key lock lever 28 connected to a key cylinder 92 of the door, and a super lock member 62 for blocking a displacement of the inside lock lever 17 in its unlocking direction after engaging with the inside lock lever 17 at its locked position. A motor 60 is provided for displacing the super lock member 62 but in case of motor failure the super lock member can be released manually. The manual release is achieved by the key lock lever 28 having a releasing protrusion 67 adapted to abut on the super lock member unlocking the super lock when the key lock lever 28 rotates. The state of engagement of the super lock member 62 with the inside lock lever 17 cannot be altered by a door-opening-operation of a door opening lever 38.
