The CD reading apparatus includes an arrangement for controlling the start and stop of processing subcode data and a CD signal processing circuit for separating subcode data from other data obtained from the disc. A memory is provided for storing subcode data and a shift register circuit converts subcode data output in serial form from the disc into parallel form and outputs the data to memory. An address generator assigns addresses of the memory to store the data. A timing control is provided for operational timing to wire data according to a command signal from the control circuit.
