PURPOSE:To make equipment light in weight and simultaneously to make construction simple by winding continuous high tensile strength fiber bundles or yarn around a member including an ignition means and a gas generating means operated by the ignition means at specified intervals to form a laminated body having filterability and pressure resistance outside the member. CONSTITUTION:A gas generator includes a vessel 4 constituted of a wire gauze, an ignition means 1 and a gas generating agent 7. A laminated body having air permeability, that is a filter 5, is formed outside the vessel 4 by winding continuous high tensile strength fiber 9 around the outside surface of the vessel 4 at specified intervals and in layers so that fiber of adjacent layers may intersect each other. The high tensile strength fibers 9 are wound so as to intersect each other at an angle of about 45 deg. to an ignition pipe axis 10 and at intervals (A) between pieces of yarn and, after the winding of one piece of yarn is finished, new yarn is wound around the yarn wound before while intersecting each other at right angles to the direction of that yarn. At this time, a laminate 5 is formed on the outer surface of the vessel 4 so that yarn of the 3rd layer 12 may be in the upper position of the interval (A) of the 1st layer 11. |
