PURPOSE:To perform graphically carving without producing batter of an image in the case of representing halftone in laser carving. CONSTITUTION:In performing laser carving on the basis of a first manuscript, a second manuscript representative of shading corresponding to dimensions of dots is prepared on the basis of the first manuscript, and laser carving is performed in conformity with the second manuscript. Those portions of the second manuscript, which correspond to non-patterned portions of the first manuscript, are large in area at minimum in proportion to the dimensions of the dots. Accordingly, when laser carving is performed, column-shaped portions 24 which correspond to non-patterned portions of the manuscript and support respective top surfaces 23 are made sufficiently big to eliminate generation of black batter on halftone areas B. |
