Apparatus and method for processing image data in a digital video tape recorder in which the image data are compressed by on interleaving process 3 using a logic product code, said method comprising the steps of dividing a frame data block into an image information data block and a first additional information data block so as to store the data blocks in a memory device, said frame data block being constituted by a plurality of composite data blocks each in which the first additional information data block is added to the image information data block by means of an external encoding 4; reading the image information data block and the first additional information data block in order from the memory so as to add a second additional information data blocks to each of the image information data block and the first additional information data block in order by means of an internal interleaving process 8; and separately recording the image information data block and the first additional information data block, to which each of the second additional information data blocks is added, on respective tracks in a tape. <IMAGE> |
