PURPOSE: To provide a material and a method, which are used for improving preservation of an ocular tissue at the time of storing the ocular tissue (particularly, corneal tissue) before transplanting it. CONSTITUTION: In this method, a human ocular tissue including its corneal tissue is maintained at a low temp. (2 to 15 deg.C) in a serum-free medical solution which is used for ophthalmology, and also, contains at least one growth factor capable of improving preservation of the tissue. This solution consists of a nutrient source contg. at least one growth factor and an aq. electrolyte solution and is replenished with a glycosaminoglycan, a drying agent, a buffering agent system, an energy source, an oxidation inhibitor and a membrane-stabilizing component. |
