PURPOSE:To obtain a polyurethane foam having excellent flame retardancy and good vibration-proofing, sound-absorbing and sound-insulating properties by adding a melamine resin mixture to a urethane prepolymer and foaming the obtained mixture. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. urethane prepolymer obtained by agitating under heating a polyether polyol containing at least 50% ethylene oxide with an organic isocyanate is mixed with such an amount of a resin mixture prepared by mixing 100 pts.wt. melamine resin powder with 60-160 pts.wt. water as to give 70-200 pts.wt. melamine resin. The obtained mixture is further mixed with an amine catalyst, a tin catalyst, a silicone oil and optionally a pigment and other additives, and the resulting mixture is foamed to produce a flame-retarding polyurethane foam. According to this process, the melamine resin added in a specified amount can well inhibit the heat transfer during heating and can combine with the cells of the polyurethane resin foam to impart thereto excellent sound-proofing properties without detriment to other properties such as resiliency. |
