<p>PURPOSE:To produce a toner of small particle size having a wide mol.wt. distribution, high fixing property, and wide range for offset resistance by suspension polymn. CONSTITUTION:In this method for developing an electrostatic latent image, a polymerizable monomer mixture liquid containing at least a coloring agent and monomers having ethylenic-unsatd. double bonds is dispersed in water by using a dispersion stabilizer and suspension-polymerized. Thus, the toner having small particle size of <=7.0mum volume average particle size is produced. In the method, a toner having high fixing property and a wide range of offset resistance can be produced by adding an oil-soluble polymn. initiator to the monomer dispersion system in two or more steps. Further, by mixing two or more kinds of suspension liquids having different amts. of crosslinking agents and polymerizing them, the polymn. toner of small particle size which gives high-quality picture images with low surface gloss can be produced.</p> |
