PURPOSE:To enable conversion without increasing the capacity of a dictionary and to lighten the burden of handwriting input by substituting original characters for their abbreviated characters and then performing the KANA (Japanese syllabary)- KANJI (Chinese character) conversion of the resulting input character string. CONSTITUTION:A character recognition part 13 recognizes the character string inputted at an input part 11 and an input character string storage table 14 is a memory for storing the character-recognized character string (recognition result). A character substitution part 15 detects the presence of abbreviated characters in the stored character string by referring to the coordinate table 16 of abbreviated characters and original characters and substitute original characters for the abbreviated characters. A KANA- KANJI conversion processing part 17 performs the KANA-KANJI conversion of the character string after the abbreviated character/original character substitution stored in the input character string storage table 14. A KANA-KANJI conversion dictionary 18 contains character strings before the conversion and corresponding character strings after the conversion. A conversion result storage table 19 is a memory for storing the word converted by the KANA-KANJI conversion processing part 17. |
