<p>PURPOSE: To reduce the cost by using the smallest number of kinds of dichroic mirrors which have a spectral transmission characteristic where coating specifications are somewhat severe. CONSTITUTION: A first dichroic mirror 32 is placed in the front of a light source lamp 31, and a second dichroic mirror 33 is so arranged that light reflected by the first dichroic mirror 32 is transmitted and reflected. A third dichroic mirror 34 is so arranged that light reflected by the second dichroic mirror 33 and light transmitted through the first dichroic mirror 32 are reflected and transmitted. A fourth dichroic mirror 35 is so arranged that light transmitted through the second dichroic mirror 33 is transmitted and light reflected by the third dichroic mirror 34 and light transmitted through this mirror 34 are reflected. In this case, three kinds of hue light which are separated and modulated along three kinds of different optical paths and reach the fourth dichroic mirror 35 are synthesized again by the fourth dichroic mirror 35 and are made incident on a projection lens 44 in parallel and are projected on a screen 45 through the projection lens 44, thus an enlarged image is formed.</p> |
