PURPOSE:To automatically select a diagnostic rule matched with the contents of patrol and inspection and to diagnose an equipment using the diagnostic rule. CONSTITUTION:When an inspection item extraction instruction is sent to a means 2 based on the operation of a display/input part 21 by an operator, the means 2 extracts a required inspection item from a file 11 and sends it to the means 3. The means 3 displays an inspected result for which data are collected for the inspection item at the display/input part 21 and the means 4 preserves the inspected result at the file 12. When the means 5 sends a diagnosis execution request signal to the means 6 based on the operation of the operator, the means 6 selects the optimum diagnostic rule matched with execution conditions from the file 13 and simultaneously reads the data from the files 12 and 14. The means 7 performs diagnosis by comparing inspection data and reference value data under the rule and the diagnosed result is displayed at the display/input part 21 by the means 8 and is also recorded in the file 15.
