A device is claimed for positioning a casting tube (12) around a nozzle (17) for decanting molten metal from one casting vessel (18) to another (19). The casting tube (12) has an annular part (13) of greater diameter close to its upper end. It incorporates a component (10) essentially in the shape of a "U" in a horizontal plane, the distance between the two branches of this "U" component (10) being less than the largest dia. of the tube (12) and greater than the dia. of the tube (12) below the part (13) of greater diameter. At least two stops (11) are provided, symmetrically positioned on the upper faces of the branches of the "U" component (10), the distance between them being less than the greatest dia. and the distance between each stop (1) and the centre of curvature of the base of the "U" component being equal to half the greatest dia. of the tube (12). A shaft (20) fixed to the base of the "U" component (10) is provided to vertical displace the "U" component and maintain it horizontal. USE/ADVANTAGE - The device is used for positioning a casting tube around a nozzle for decanting molten metal from one casting vessel to another. The device ensures accurate positioning of the casting tube around the nozzle and retains it securely in position during the casting operation. It can be used with both circular and conical casting tubes.
