PURPOSE:To reduce the processing time by executing a series of processing such as decoding, insertion and coding of picture information within a unit without transfer of the picture information under processing onto a system bus. CONSTITUTION:An original picture set to a scanner is read one by one line each at a prescribed picture element density and the obtained raw picture information is transferred to a coding circuit 3a of a picture information conversion section 3. The coding circuit 3a compresses the raw picture information by a prescribed coding system such as the MMR system and stores the picture information subjected to data compression in a picture memory. Then the picture transmission is started. That is, the coded picture information stored in the picture memory is read and transferred sequentially to a decoding circuit 3d of the picture information conversion section 3. The decoding circuit 3d decodes the inputted coded picture information into the original raw information and the magnification circuit 3c magnifies the raw picture information as required. |
