PURPOSE:To prevent defects in picture images due to microbes even when a cooling liquid essentially consisting of water is used for a long time in the process for producing a planographic printing plate and to stably obtain a high-quality picture image by cooling a thermally fixed printing plate with a cooling water containing at least one of antiseptic agent, mildew proofing agent or microbicide. CONSTITUTION:At least one of antiseptic agent, mildew proofing agent or microbicide is incorporated into the cooling liquid. As for the antiseptic agent, mildew proofing agent and microbicide, any well-known compds. may be used, and for example, phenol compd. such as phenol, thiazol or isothiazol compd. such as benzoisothiazolone, org. bromine compd. such as 2,2-dibromo-2'- chloroacetophenone, or quaternery ammonium salt compd. such as n- alkyldimethyl benzylammonium chloride are used. If the temp. of the cooling water 42 in a cooling water tank 40 elevates over the specified temp. during using, a controller 26 operates a cooling device 50 based on the output signal of the temp. sensor 52 to decrease the temp. |
