PURPOSE: To provide an array of surface emission distribution feeback semiconductor laser devices which generates a continuous wave laser beam of high quality having a single far-field lobe. CONSTITUTION: The array of surface emission distribution feedback semiconductor laser devices is provided with a Talbot spatial filter 28, so as to set basic a lateral mode oscillation. The array consists of a first sub-array 20 and a second sub-array 22 of a plurality of surface emission distribution feedback semiconductor laser devices, which are arranged in parallel. The first and the second sub-arrays 20, 22 are isolated from each other by a free propagation region 24, whose length is equal to the Talbot distance. The respective elements of the first sub-array 20 and the corresponding elements of the second sub-array 22 intersect the free propagation region and the aligned in a line. The Talbot spatial filter consists of a plurality of islands of light-absorbing material in the free propagation region 24. |
