PURPOSE:To provide a document preparing device which is equipped with a function for generating an index candidate character string whose HIRAGANA (cursive form of Japanese syllabary) characters are described in KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary) by KANA-KANJI conversion processing in specific conditions and, therefore, improves the preparation efficiency of a colloquial document prepared by describing part of a document in KATAKANA. CONSTITUTION:A particle table 9 contains conversion information for converting the particle into KATAKANA characters on condition that, for example, a sentence has the particle composed of specific HIRAGANA characters at its tail. A KANA-KANJI conversion processing part 6 generates the new index candidate character string by converting the specific HIRAGANA characters in a pronunciation character string from an input part 2 which satisfies the condition into KATAKANA characters and stores it in a conversion buffer 5. |
