To provide a liquid crystal composition which has a low resistivity value, requires little electric current and has a low threshold drive voltage. A liquid crystal composition comprising at least one compound represented by general formula (I) and at least one compound represented by general formula (II) wherein R1 and R2 represent each C1-C10 alkyl or C2-C10 alkenyl; S1 to S3 represent each -F, -CHF2-, -OCHF2, -CF3 or -OCF3; Z1 and Z2 represent each -Z3-(C)n-Z4- (wherein Z3 and Z4 represent each -COO-, -CH2CH2-, -CH=CH-, ethynylene or a single bond), -COO-, -CH2CH2-, -CH=CH-, ethynylene or a single bond; A, B and C represent each a trans-cyclohexane or benzene ring; l, m and n represent each 0 or 1 provided that (l+m+n) >= 1; Z5 represents -COO-, -CH2CH2-, -CH=CH- or a single bond; X1 represents -F, -CF3, -OCF3, -CHF2, -OCHF2 or -CN; and Y1 represents -H or -F. |
