The data transmission involves using a typical arrangement having two peripheral (LTG-T, LTG-R) groups as part of a modular structure digital communication system to process speech, test and data. Each group has 512 subscriber connections and 64 lines. Transfers between groups use a high level data link control and an open collector system bus (Y-BUS). The single data units of the data blocks are non return to zero, NRZ, coded and transmitted. Transmission pauses are identified in relation to the previously transmitted data unit. Data is held in a shift register (SHT) coupled to a comparator (COM). ADVANTAGE - Avoids blocking of system when multiple simultaneous transmissions occur.
