In a valve operating system for an internal combustion engine, a pull-rod or rocker (1) which engages on the one hand with a gas valve (5) and on the other is supported on the cylinder head (3) is actuated by a cam (7) via an intermediate member (6). Here, the intermediate member (6) can be applied to the pull rod or rocker (1) in the direction of the actuating force of the cam (7) and can be decoupled therefrom. It is proposed that the pull rod or rocker (1) be fitted with a guide and adjacent free-floating section (16, 17), whereby the intermediate member (6) can be moved into these sections by means of an actuating device (11, 14). In the free-floating section (17) the intermediate member (6) can oscillate without actuating the pull rod or rocker (1), whereas in the guide section (16) it is fixed in the direction of the actuating force of the cam (7) on the pull rod or rocker (7). |
