Measurement and control for electronic two-point or proportional controller - involves varying control dead period according to change in actual value between control cycles

The method involves a dead period during which the measurement sensor cannot influence the actual value parameter. During a control period the measurement parameter influences the actual value and is controlled towards the desired value. After the expiry of the variable dead period the difference between the current actual value and the actual value at the end of the previous dead period is determined. Its ratio to the switching difference of the two-point controller is determined and the dead period for the next cycle varied accordingly. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for controlling temp., humidity or pressure when using electric heating equipment, e.g. storage heater. Method eliminates some problems encountered with conventional methods, including their expense.
