Closure for cardboard packing box - allows optional locking by tongue in lid overlap engaging in window cut in edge of box

The lid (2) overlaps and meets the associated edge (3) of the box wall where it is secured closed by sections of the lid overlap engaging behind a locking edge which is formed by the edge of an arm of a window (16) cut free in the box edge (3). A free-cut tongue (14) of the lid overlap (11) can be bent into the window. This tongue is formed behind an opening (20) of the front layer of the double-layered lid overlap. The two layers of the overlap can extend at a slight distance from each other. The window can be closed by two wings (21) which are bent out from same. The multi-layered box wall can have a corrugated cardboard insert layer whose corrugations run perpendicular to the locking edge and parallel to the bending line of the tongues. USE/ADVANTAGE - The box can be opened and closed like a normal box. The lid need only be secured if required by bending the tongue through the window.
