A plant pot (1) for cultivating container-grown plants is constructed from a cardboard of a high wet strength. The pot (1) comprises two rectangular panels (3a, 3b) and a hingedly attached circular base portion (5) and is readily erected from a collapsed configuration. The pot (1) may be placed in the soil with the plant. Lines of perforations (8a, 8b) extending downwardly from the top edge of the pot enable it to split open in the soil, after a transitional period, in response to root growth. The cardboard pot is formed from chemically recovered, virgin wood fibres that provide the required wet strength while enabling the pot to be fully biodegradable and recyclable.
|
