摘要 A method for the determn. of the biological function and/or for the characterisation of DNA and/or RNA sequences is claimed whereby all 16 pairs (X/Y) of adjacent nucleotides (N) (5'-3') in sequence (S) are divided into class K1 comprising AG, CT, CA, CG, TA and TG, and class K2 comprising GA, TC, AC, GC, TA, GT, AA, CC, GG and TT. A numerical sequence S asterisk, of length N-1, is created by substituting all members of K1 with the number 1 and 0 members of K2 with number 0. S asterisk is subjected to numerical signal analysis. Prepn., (I) (A) may either be AG, CT, CA, cG and TG; or CA, CG, Ta and TG; or AG, CT, GC, AA, TT, CC and GG and (I) (B) may then contain the remaining pairs respectively. USE/ADVANTAGE - The new method is useful in DNA and RNA analysis, identification of exons and introns, characterisation of their biological function and gene localisation. The method allows fast nucleic analysis of nucleotide sequence without further cost. The method is based on the finding that protons involved in hydrogen bonding in DNA double helices show quantum effects. The adjacent pairs of class K1 show strong effects whereas those of class K2 show weak effects or none. The distribution of these adjacent base pairs correlates with their biological function.
