The centrifugal fan has a housing with a conical intake section (3). The fan impeller blades (4) have permanent magnets (7) attached edge-on to act as the motor rotor. These rotate close to a ring-shaped stator winding (11) mounted at the base of the intake cone. The magnets form a sort of shroud for the impeller blades. Another design has a double stator winding, each ring-shaped, located on either side of the path of the permanent magnets. ADVANTAGE - Compact design without affecting airflow.
