Following washing, an assembly separates solid particles from granular or lumpy materials. The novelty is that an upper comb (6) with a rotating hollow axle is arranged on a drive arm (4) within a mixer vessel (3). Further, that a contra-rotating lower comb (7) is secured within to the hollow upper comb rotating axle within the mixer vessel. The upper comb (6) is covered by a pressure plate (5). The mixing cylinder (3) has a conical lower section with a sliding closure (11) above which is a drainage pipe (9). The mixing cylinder (3) above the pressure plate (5) is charged by an inlet pipe (8). USE/ADVANTAGE - The assembly separates fine solid particles from granular and lumpy solids. It is possible to separate several different grades of material in a single stage process. Further, only a single separation fluid is required. Also particles below 1 g/cm3 can be separated.
