PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR THE REGENERATION OF A SOLID CATALYST

A process for the regeneration of a solid catalyst involving the interaction between a gas and a surface of the solid catalyst in which the gas is provided in the form of AC excited catalyst. The process may be used to chemically convert material which is adsorbed on the surface of the catalyst to another material which can be removed or the plasma may be used to physically dislodge the adsorbed material. Alternatively, if the material is chemically combined with the surface of the catalyst, the action of the plasma breaks the chemical bonds.
