A travel simulator uses software to generate a street traffic image on the screen of a graphic computer with intersecting streets, pavement, houses traffic signs and vehicles, together with the identified vehicle, as seen from above, so that both coordinate axes of the road network lie at the same angle to the image screen horizontal. The size of the represented video objects remains constant during the forwards movement, corresponding to the distance from the observer, with the identified vehicle remaining in the centre of the screen. The computer is controlled by signal values entered via operating elements of proficiency training device for a bicycle, motorbike or car or for a video game. ADVANTAGE - Requires only small amt. of hardware. Objects represented immediately identifiable and responding to direction of travel as decided by trainee.
