The joint is particularly for use between the side-members of an axle bracket and a cross-member. One member is of hollow profiled cross-section, and the other a drawn pressed channel-section, forming a jaw extending part-way round the hollow one. The flanges (26) of the channel-section cross-member (16) are joined together at the ends by a rib (32), so as to form with them and the web (30) a closed frame. This is welded to the hollow member all the way along its peripheral edge. ADVANTAGE - Low cost, and easily machine-welded.
