Appts. for mfg. a cover from plastic film, especially for application onto an underbody panel on a vehicle comprises lower (1) and upper (5) tool components. The upper tool (5) has channels from the tool surface leading to connections (8) to a vacuum pump. After moulding a sheet (4) between the closed tool halves (1,5) the vacuum holds the shaped component when the upper tool (5) is raised and moved to a position above the panel to which it is to be applied. USE/ADVANTAGE - For mfg. a cover, esp. for application to a vehicle underbody panel. Allows prodn. of relatively deep drawn three-dimensional profiles in film and facilitates damage-free transport to the component to be covered.
