PRESS AND METHOD FOR CURING TAPERED AIR SLEEVE

PURPOSE:To obtain a simplified inexpensive press for curing a tapered air sleeve by pressing an uncured air sleeve preformed by a cylindrical elastric bladder to the tapered cartridge placed in a curing chamber to cure the same. CONSTITUTION:The hollow support pipe 7 fixed between the base 2 of a press 1 and a top closure plate 2 has opening end parts 10, 11 and is equipped with rapid connectors 16, 17 becoming air/steam inlet and outlet parts. A cylindrical elastic bladder 20 is arranged in the pipe 7 and the opening end part thereof is fixed to the outer surface of the pipe 7 to form an annular expansion chamber between the bladder 20 and the inner wall of the pipe 7. A tapered sleeve cartridge 28 is provided in the hollow interior (curing chamber) 24 of the bladder 20 in a slidable manner and a preformed uncured tapered elastic sleeve is attached on the cartridge 28 in a slidable manner. A heating fluid is sent to the expansion chamber and the uncured sleeve is pressed to the cartridge 28 by the bladder 20 to be cured.
