PURPOSE:To obtain the formed article having excellent hardness, rigidity, transparency, gas-permeability, hydrophilicity and water-wettability and useful for contact lens, etc., by immersing a formed plastic article containing Si atom in an alkaline solution. CONSTITUTION:The formed article having an oxygen permeability constant of 10X10<-11>cm<3>(STP)cm/cm<2>.sec.mmHg or higher is produced by immersing a formed plastic article containing silicon atom, e.g. a copolymer of a siloxane compound having double bond [e.g. tris(trimethylsiloxy)silylpropyl methacrylate] and a compound having (meth)acryloyl group [e.g. methyl (meth)acrylate] in an alkaline solution such as an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide. |
