The invention concerns a centring device, for example for removing a baking plate 21 from a slotted oven 18 and/or inserting a plate into the oven, which centring device is fixed to a vertically movable bar 1. Attached to the bar 1 is a beam 2 provided with a linear guide along which a connection member 3 moves in an essentially horizontal direction relative to the frame part. Levers 4, 5 are fixed to the connection member in such a way that they can be pivoted in directions away from each other. The device is also provided with a power element 11 which causes the levers to move. Each lever is additionally provided with a cylindrical contact device which bears against the oven during the centring phase. <IMAGE>
