PURPOSE:To provide an ink-jet printer, in which structure for capping and priming is simplified and an ink reservoir can be miniaturized. CONSTITUTION:An ink-jet printer is composed of a carriage 3 holding an ink-jet head 6, a cap 21 oppositely arranged to the ink-jet head 6 on the outside of a printing region, an operation conversion section 24 converting a linear motion on the outside of the printing region of the carriage 3 into the direction crossing with the direction of the linear motion and transmitting the motion over the cap 21, a pump 26 connected to a paper-feed motor 9, and an ink reservoir 25 connected between the cap 21 and the pump 26. Capping operation is conducted while using a linear motion in the non-printing region of the carriage 3 as a driving force, and the pump 26 is driven by the paper-feed motor 9 and priming operation is performed. |
