PURPOSE:To obtain the ink which exhibits good delivery characteristics during delivery from a recording head, requires a low transfer pressure, and forms a high-quality ink image stably regardless of the place where it is used by using a combination of a drying solvent with a nondrying solvent as the vehicle of the ink. CONSTITUTION:An ink which is used in ink jet recording by forming an ink image using the ink on a transfer medium and transferring the image to a recording medium comprises a vehicle consisting of an easily drying solvent and a nondrying solvent and a solid color component consisting of a pigment dispersed in or a dye dissolved in the vehicle.
