<p>PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of a formed core of a golf ball, keeping the weight and the compression at a proper level by adding polypropylene powder resin to the material of the core of a golf ball made of polybutadiene composition with a prescribed molecular volume, reducing a crosslinking agent by increasing the hardness of the formed core, and increasing the volume of the filler. CONSTITUTION: This material of the core of a golf ball includes base elastomer selected from a group of polybutadiene with about 50-500 thousand molecules and a mixture of polybutadiene with other elastomer, metal salt of at least one kind ofα,β-ethylene unsaturated mono-carboxylic acid, free radical starting agent, and polypropylene powder resin. In this case, the specific gravity of the polypropylene resin powder is about 0.90 g/cm<3> , and the melt flow index is about 4-12. The polypropylene powder resin will harden the material of the core, and as a result, the volume of the metal salt inα,β-ethylene unsaturated mono-carboxylic acid mixed in the material of the core will be reduced.</p> |
