PURPOSE:To provide an ink tank having excellent handling properties and a high ink holding ratio by maintaining stable discharge while preventing the unfavorable leaking-out of ink. CONSTITUTION:An ink tank is obtained by improving a partitioned ink-chamber ink tank system and composed of a supply-section ink chamber having a supply section to a recording head and an atmospheric air communicating section while including an ink absorber, in which capillary force is adjusted, and one or a plurality of ink chambers, which are communicated with the supply-section ink chamber and in which ink is stored. The capillary force of the ink absorber in the upper section of the supply section to at least the recording head is made stronger than that of the ink absorber in a communicating section with the ink chambers.
