PURPOSE:To obtain the image formation of excellent contrast ratio and to improve the display quality of the printing by arranging a TN liquid crystal display device where switching elements are arranged in each pixel. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal display device 13 is irradiated with the laser beam 11 emitted by a pulse laser 10 through a beam amplifying and shaping device 12. The laser beam 14 transmitted this liquid crystal display device 13 is introduced into an image-formation optical system 16 through a mirror 15, and the image is formed on the surface of a work 17, and the marking is executed by evaporating the surface of the work by the energy of this laser beam 18. An active type TN display device does not show the elliptical poralization, and very little light can transmit the background part, improving the contrast. The device is driven by using the switching elements, and no half-write parts are generated, resulting in no transmission of the light from the part which originally transmits no light. |
