PURPOSE:To obtain an antifungal polyorganosiloxane composition capable of preventing molds from propagating for a long period by using a specific benzimidazolylcarbamate compound and a bis(2-pyridylthio-1-oxide)zinc as an antimicrobial substance in combination. CONSTITUTION:The antifungal polyorganosiloxane composition is obtained by adding 0.001-25 pts.wt. benzimidazolylcarbamate compound of formula I (R<1> is H, alkyl, halogen or nitro; R<2> is alkyl or alkoxyalkyl; R<3> is H, carbamoyl or carbamoyloxy) and 0.001-25 pts.wt. bis(2-pyridylthio-1-oxide)zinc of formula II to a system composed of 100 pts.wt. polyorganosiloxane having terminals blocked with silanol or alkoxy groups (having 100-500000cSt viscosity at 25 deg.C) and 0.1-20 pts.wt. organosilicon compound having average >=2 hydrolyzable groups, bound to silicon atom and existing in the molecule. This composition is effectively used as an antifungal sealing material, especially in a humid place without causing discoloration during its preservation and deteriorating physical properties. |
