Advantageous water treatment compositions are provided, which remain stable prior to the intended use therefor in an aqueous environment. The compositions constitute a chlorinated allantoin or glycoluril derivative of formula (I) or (II), and a low residual amount of moisture. The composition may also include, if desired, activated carbon, which may optionally be ion-impregnated. A method of treating water utilizing the compostions is disclosed as well as water treatment kits. |
