This device comprises a first expandable (intumescent) joint (3), partially surrounding the element (1), a first metal sheet or composite plate (4) interposed between the said first joint and a frame (2) of the element, this sheet having a free end (6), profiled to contain a second expandable joint (7), and a recess (bevel shoulder) (9) made in the element, facing the said free end (6). In the event of fire, the second joint (7) and the profiled end (6) of the sheet (4) come by thermal expansion and deformation, to fill the recess (9) and an intermediate space (8) between the frame and the recess. This arrangement makes it possible to efficiently counter the deformations undergone by a plastic element (1) in the event of fire and significantly increases the time during which it forms a barrier to the propagation of heat and flames. <IMAGE> |
