Each fibre (FO) is associated with a cassette reel (KL) lying on a cassette support (SK) comprising a horizontal flange (SH) on which they rest and a vertical plate (SV) whose upper part has a longitudinal cylindrical rod (XL). The cassette has a slatted cylindrical sleeve (MC) which encircles the rod and allows it to be rotated by 90 deg. for maintenance and modification. Each cable (CF) is anchored to a flange (SA) fixed to a support (SS) which houses other similar cables. The cassette support lies above this flange, coming immediately after it. The flange has a collar cable-grip, a terminal to anchor the central element of the cable and the base eight fibres (PF). Slots (RM,RL) in the supports guide the cable fibres. USE/ADVANTAGE - Telephone communications systems with multi-fibre optical cable head having sets of individual fibres. Exhibits flexible joint, protected fibres and simple plug-in action.
