A plastics bottle crate is provided with a pair of apertures (10), (11), Fig. 1 (not shown), in each of a pair of opposite sido walls (9), each aperture being of generally rectangular shape with one upper corner filled in by a straight inclined abutment surface (14), (15) which serves to position the crate on the prongs of a fork lift truck. The abutment surfaces are reinforced by outwardly extending ribs (18), Fig. 2 (not shown). Each end wall (2) of the crate has a generally rectangular aperture (1) shaped along its top side with a short cut-out section having at its ends a pair of opposed curved abutment surfaces (4). The curved abutment surfaces (4) are shaped to accommodate hooks 8 by which the crate can be handled. Holes (21), Fig. 2 (not shown), around the bottom of the crate facilitate drainage. The pair of apertures (10, (11) may be on the end wall (2) in addition to or in place of the aperture (1). Similarly, the aperture (1) may be situated on the side walls (9). As shown, upwardly extending pegs are provided around the upper edge of the crate corresponding to recesses in the crate bottom. |
