PURPOSE:To provide a control device to adjust vehicle height by using damping force of a shock absorber capable of switching the setting of the damping force used for a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A lower end part of a piston rod 30 is formed in a cylindrical shape, and a control valve 60, a contraction side exclusive passage 56 and an extension side exclusive passage 57 are arranged in the cylinder. The contraction side exclusive passage 56 and the extension side exclusive passage 57 are communicated with an upper chamber 2a by opening and closing a plate like check valve 58 and a plate like check valve 59. Since a contraction side exclusive hole 66 and an extension side exclusive hole 67 are formed in the control valve 60, a sub passage 50, the contraction side exclusive passage 56 and the extension side exclusive passage 57 in the control valve 60 can be communicated or intercepted selectively with/from each other by rotating the control valve 60. Thereby, for example, since a damping force characteristic can be set in an easily contractible and hard to be extensible condition or in a hard to be contracted and easily extensible condition only by controlling the control valve 60 according to a rate of vehicle speed, vehicle height can be adjusted low or high without using any other special power source. |
