The invention comprises (a) compounds with benzene or naphthalene nuclei to which one or more -OCOF or -SCOF groups, and optionally halogen, alkyl haloalkyl, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, and/or phenyl groups, are directly attached (but excluding PhOCOF) and (b) a process for preparing nuclear fluorinated aromatic compounds by pyrolysing at 350-900 DEG C. the compounds (a). Compounds (a) are prepared by reacting either a phenol or thiophenol or their alkali metal salts with COFCl, or a corresponding aryl -OCOCl or -SCOCl compound with HF or an inorganic fluoride of an element of atomic number 11-83.
|
