The spring clip (3) for fixing railway rails, is roughly P-shaped on plan, the bottom part of the loop running round the bolt (4) holding it to the sleeper, its end turned down parallel to the leg of the P, which is parallel to the rail and slides into a hole (19) bored in a plastics plate (2). The back (24) of the plate (2) bears against a shoulder (16) on the sleeper. The clip is factory fitted on the sleeper and tracklaying achieved by loosening the bolt, rotating the clip outwards and upwards, then back down onto the rail flange and tightening the bolt. USE/ADVANTAGES - Is assembled in casting yard, good for concrete, wooden or metal sleepers, slabs or metal base plates, designed for transmitting operating stresses direct to sleeper.
