PURPOSE: To simply mount a propulsion unit at a boat by adopting a lower universal joint as a ball joint for providing a ball connected to a drive shaft housing and providing the ball with a passage for communicating a cooling water inlet of the housing with a conduit to an outlet to connect a cooling intake port of an engine. CONSTITUTION: A lower ball joint 22 holds a ball 25 which is tightly connected to a drive shaft housing 3 through a neck 26 and provided in a spherical recess in a piston member 27. The member 27 is movable in a cylinder 21 against an action of a helical spring 28 contained in the cylinder 21. The ball 25 and the neck 26 provide a through passage 29 which communicates with a passage 30 in the housing 3. The passage 30 communicates with a cooling water inlet 31 of an underwater casing 32 of the housing.
