PURPOSE:To provide a method for efficiently removing a malodorous component in gas from a cooker, a heater, etc., as well as a night soil treating plant, a garbage treating plant, a food plant, a paper-pulp mill or a petrochemical plant within a wide temp. range. CONSTITUTION:Gas contg. at least one among thiols, sulfides, disulfides, ammonia, amines and aldehydes as the principal malodorous component is brought into contact with a deodorant consisting of cobalt oxide and/or manganese oxide and zeolite. This deodorant removes the malodorous component by adsorption at. a low temp. of about <=50 deg.C, can bring the malodorous component into oxidation decomposition at a high temp. of about >=50 deg.C and ensures an efficient deodorizing method. In the case of ammonia, Co3O4/mordenite (curve 3) has a high rate of removal. |
