MICROORGANISM IMMOBILIZED CARRIER AND BIOREACTOR USING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To provide a microorganism immobilized carrier having high contact efficiency of a substrate with a microorganism without clogging and a bioreactor using the carrier. CONSTITUTION:A number of slits 2 having 15-75 deg. tilting angle theta are mutually parallel formed in a block 1 consisting of porous ceramics to afford the objective microorganism immobilized carrier. This microorganism immobilized carrier is laminated vertically in multiple stage in the interior of a tank 3 while changing the direction of slits 2 to provide the objective bioreactor. At this time, a liquid storage part 6 is formed between the microorganism immobilized carrier and the inner wall of the tank 3. Then, a substrate fed from a feed port 4 is made to react with a microorganism immobilized on the surface while allowing the substrate to flow to the upper part along a zigzag-like flow path formed by these slits 2 and the product is taken out from the outlet 5.
