PURPOSE: To provide a socket which can reliably engage and support a daughter board. CONSTITUTION: An elastic metal plate 22 is mounted to both ends of a socket body 13. This metal plate 22 is equipped with a mounting leg 76 to mount the socket body 13 on a mother board, a hook member 64 to be engaged with an engaging hole of a daughter board and a plate spring member 66 which elastically pushes up the daughter board engaged with the hook member 64, as one unit. The daughter board inserted in the socket body 13 is pushed up by the plate spring member 66, and its engagement with the hook member 64 is energized.
