PURPOSE:To provide the method and device for data processing which can efficiently performs many data processes such as the retrieval and update of the longest data at a high speed by necessary irreducible input/output processes using limited input/output buffer areas. CONSTITUTION:Under the control of a record retrieving process part 13, a record updating process part 14, a record deleting process part 15, and a record storing process part 16, a subrecord selecting process part 17 automatically selects irreducible minimum subrecords required for instruction execution in operation units of record operation instructions 1 and a subrecord unit parallel input/output process part 19 performs independent input/output operation in subrecord units by using input/output buffers in the subrecord units controlled by a subrecord unit input/output buffer control process part 18.
